Ashanti Pays Tribute to Irv Gotti in Heartfelt Message Reflecting on Their ‘Ups and Downs’

Following the recent passing of Murder Inc. co-founder Irv Gotti, singer Ashanti shared an emotional message reflecting on their complex relationship.

Despite acknowledging past challenges, she expressed gratitude for their shared successes. In her message, Ashanti wrote:

"I can’t believe things ended like this….and it makes me so sad. We weren’t on the best terms the past few years but as I’ve always said, through our ups and downs I will forever be grateful for everything that you’ve done for me. We made history and that will remain infinite. I’ve always respected your musical genius and ability to push me to be my best.. All the greatness and positive things that came, far outweigh the dark and negative times. I have always prayed for you to find peace. Sending love and prayers to the entire family."

In a 2022 interview, Ashanti had addressed their relationship, accusing Gotti of manipulation during her early career.

She stated that while they "dealt with each other," they were never in an official relationship and accused Gotti of lying about the nature of their connection.

Irv Gotti, born Irving Lorenzo Jr., passed away at the age of 54.

He was instrumental in launching the careers of artists like Ashanti and Ja Rule, producing numerous hits in the early 2000s.
