Dame Dash Hit With $4M Defamation Judgment in Lawsuit From Filmmaker

Dame Dash has been ordered to pay $4 million to filmmaker Josh Webber after being found guilty of defamation.

The case stems from comments Dash made on the Earn Your Leisure podcast in 2024, where he accused Webber of theft over their dispute about the 2019 film Dear Frank.
During the interview, Dash said, “I had a judgment. And I knew this dickhead Chris Brown and Josh Webber and Muddy Waters... Chris Brown the lawyer. I went through four trials with the same lawyer. What I lost was defamation because these guys trigger me and steal my shit... you think there is freedom of speech, it’s really not.”
This is not the first legal issue between Dash and Webber.
In 2019, Webber and Muddy Water Pictures sued Dash for copyright infringement and defamation.
They alleged Dash tried to market Dear Frank as his own project under the title The List after being removed from the film for unprofessional behavior.
A 2022 court ruling awarded Webber nearly $1 million.
Dash’s one-third stake in Roc-A-Fella Records was auctioned to satisfy that judgment.
Webber did not receive payment, as Dash’s outstanding debts—like taxes and child support—took priority.
Webber then sought other assets, including ownership documents from Dash’s media company, Poppington, and rights to his films.
His legal team even filed to auction Dash’s engagement ring to help cover the debt.
Dash has not made a public statement about the new $4 million judgment.
The ruling adds to a growing list of financial and legal troubles for the former music executive.
