Kendrick Lamar Pushes Back Slave Comedy Film With ‘South Park’ Creators

Kendrick Lamar’s upcoming film has been delayed from its original July 4, 2025 release date to March 20, 2026.
The untitled movie is a collaboration with South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone.
It follows a Black man who works as a slave reenactor at a living history museum and later discovers his white girlfriend’s ancestors once owned his.
Filming began in October 2024 in Pomona, California.
Paramount Pictures CEO Brian Robbins praised the script as “one of the funniest and most original” he’s ever seen.
This marks Kendrick’s first major venture into film production.
He previously worked with Parker and Stone on his 2022 music video “The Heart Part 5,” which used their deepfake technology.
The delay gives Kendrick time to focus on his Grand National Tour with SZA, which runs from April 19 to August 9, 2025.
The new release date avoids conflict with the film’s promotion and tour schedule.
