Soulja Boy Ordered to Pay $4 Million in Sexual Battery Lawsuit

A California jury has found Soulja Boy, real name DeAndre Cortez Way, liable for sexual assault and physical abuse against his former personal assistant.

The verdict, delivered in Santa Monica, awarded the woman over $4 million in damages.

Identified as Jane Doe, the plaintiff filed the lawsuit in 2021, alleging she started working for Soulja Boy in 2018 and was never paid as promised.

She said the professional relationship turned romantic and became abusive, involving repeated instances of rape, physical violence, and threats until she left in 2020.

She also claimed that when she returned to collect her belongings, he assaulted her again.

The jury found Soulja Boy liable for assault, sexual battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

However, he was not found liable for false imprisonment or some other claims.

The case is now entering a second phase to determine whether punitive damages will be added.

Soulja Boy has denied all allegations.

His attorney argued that the plaintiff fabricated the claims in an attempt to get money.

Meanwhile, the woman’s legal team called the verdict a step forward for victims of abuse in the music industry.

Soulja Boy has faced other legal issues in recent years, including a $472,000 judgment in a separate case involving an ex-girlfriend.

More updates are expected as the case continues.
